Experiences in Latin America and the Caribbean focused on NbS with an emphasis on the Nexus components: Water, Energy, and Food, and on Biodiversity

This project identifies, systematizes, and analyzes Nature-based Solutions (NbS) experiences throughout the Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) region, identifying their relationship with the components of the extended Nexus analytical framework (WELF), as well as the links between the Nexus and biodiversity.

To this end, a methodological chapter was developed, explaining the research and analysis methods, information sources, and the procedures and criteria used for case selection. Furthermore, a comparative analysis of the NbS was conducted based on various criteria to provide conclusions on the state of

NbS-Nexus initiatives in the region, their characteristics, and the obstacles, barriers, and opportunities for scaling, improving, or strengthening this work, as well as potential “entry points” from the reviewed experiences. The analysis concluded by extracting policy lessons, recommendations, and pathways for future work.
